During the Huntsville Hamfest this past weekend NASA's Marshall Space Center solar scientist Dr. David Hathaway presented a talk on "The Solar Dynamo Saga: Chapter 11". Con Wassileff, ZL2AFP, nedávno uvolnil nový úzkopásmový digitální mód, CMSK, vyvinutý speciálně pro dlouhovlnná a středovlnná amatérská pásma (2 200, 600 a 160 m).

Mód používá MSK modulaci, známou posluchačům dlouhých a středních vln jako nejpoužívanější mód pro komerční a vojenské přenosy. Hlavní výhodou MSK oproti PSK je, že nevyžaduje lineární zesílení k zachování úzké šíře pásma.

Nový ZL2AFP CMSK mód může být popsán jako korelované, konvoluční klíčování s minimální změnou. Využívá celočasový konvoluční kodér standardu NASA s prokladačem, umožňující působivou odolnost vůči QRN. Synchronizace je zajištěna, dokonce i u velmi slabých signálů, vysílanými rámcovými značkami PN-sekvencemi a křížovými korelátory v přijímači.

K dispozici jsou čtyři módy od 125 baudů (šíře pásma <200 Hz, 300 znaků/minutu) až do 7,8 baudů (šíře pásma 12,5 Hz a 20 znaků/minutu). Nejužší a nejpomalejší mód je určen pro majáky a může být 100% přijímán při S/N -21 dB a šíři pásma 3 kHz. Standardní mód CMSK63 byl spolehlivě přijímán na vzdálenost 2 200 km na 600 m při vysílaném signálu pod 1 W EIRP.

Press Release: 10-10-2010, New DXCC activation of PJ4, Bonaire
Date: 11 August, 2010

The end of a country - The Netherlands Antilles With a 99% certainty, many things are about to change for the people and all radio amateurs in the Netherlands Antilles. On October 10, 2010 the Netherlands Antilles will cease to exist as a country within the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the islands will emerge with several new statuses:

St. Maarten and Curacao will become an independent country within the Kingdom and will be granted the same status that Aruba attained in 1986.

Bonaire, Saba and Sint Eustatius (also called BES islands) will be given the status of a public body (a kind of special municipality) in the Netherlands and will therefore fall directly under Dutch rule.

What does this mean for radio amateurs?

The two current DXCC entities of PJ2/PJ4 (Leeward Islands) and PJ5/PJ6/PJ7 (Windward Islands) are expected to be deleted. However, several new entities are likely to emerge on 10-10-2010.

Both St. Maarten (PJ7) and Curacao (PJ2) will become a new DXCC entity.

Bonaire (PJ4) will become a new DXCC entity.

Saba (PJ6) along with St. Eustatius (PJ5) will become a single DXCC entity due to their proximity to each other.

In short, 2 entities will be disappearing, but 4 will come back!

Activities from Bonaire

Everyone knows what an activation of a new DXCC country means and that's why a group of hams from Bonaire, Germany, The Netherlands and the United States have joined forces to successfully activate Bonaire.

From six locations around the island, a group of between 15 and 20 amateurs will activate Bonaire between October 10-24, 2010. The primary focus will be all HF bands from 160 to 10 meters including the WARC bands. Due to the time of year, 6 meters will not likely produce much activity, but it will be a consideration. The team will focus on all modes including SSB, CW and various digital modes.

Call signs

Callsigns will be announced prior to the activation. However, we expect the prefix to continue to be PJ4 even after October 10th. Further information about the callsigns to be used will be published on our website - www.bonaire2010.com.

Radio Netherlands

With 6 locations around the island, there should be plenty of opportunity for a QSO. However, our premiere location is that of the short-wave transmitter site, Radio Netherlands. Bonaire is home to a large relay station and its impressive aerial park which provides up to 21 dBd gain. We are extremely pleased to announce that with the co- operation of the World Service, our group of hams has been granted use of the antennas during their "dead hours" on the HF bands.

In addition to our other locations, we anticipate being active on HF daily between 12:30 and 18:30 UTC from the Radio Netherlands facility. We expect to utilize this opportunity on 30, 20, 15 and 17 meters. Radio Netherlands is also expected to air a special program dedicated to the new status of the radio amateurs on Sunday, October 10th.

Contacts with schools

Between October 11th-15th, the World Service's facility will also serve another purpose. A group of schoolchildren from Bonaire will be contacting another group of children in the Netherlands who will be the guest of Dutch ham PD1DX. This will provide an opportunity for the group of new Dutch country citizens to ask each other questions in order to get to know one other a little bit better.

QSL cards

All QSOs will be QSL'd through the services of Global QSL who will be responsible for printing and distributing cards to all QSL bureaus worldwide.

If you do not use a QSL bureau or would like to send for a direct confirmation, all QSL information will be published on our website - www.bonaire2010.com.

Up to date information will be published on our website - www.bonaire2010.com. Information on Bonaire, sponsors, activation plans and the participants will be listed. In addition, we expect to have an on-line log.

Given the expected pile-ups, we kindly ask everyone who works us after 10-10-2010 and who finds themselves in the log not to call again. We want to give a new country to as many people as possible.

Změny v Holandských Antilách vyvolávají plány na DX expedice do nových zemí DXCC. Další z plánovaných expedic je expedice na Sint Maarten.

The Sint Maarten 2010 team is proud to announce that they are in high gear with the planning for the celebration of the new country status on 10-10-10.

They have a 12 member international team assembled, including: Franz DJ9ZB, Max I8NHJ, John K6MM, Dave K4SV, Kevin K6TD, Craig K9CT, Ralph K9ZO, Bill N2WB, Charlie NF4A, Charlie K6KK, Bruce W6OSP, and Joe W8GEX. This is a team of highly experienced, hard workers and some of the nicest people you could meet.

In addition to the operators, Tom Harrell N4XP is the team treasurer and Janet Pater W8CAA is helping in the organization. John K6MM has done an outstanding job as web master.

The website, which is nearly complete, can be viewed at http://www.stmaarten2010.com/. The website will feature oqsl and accept donations by PayPal.

The group plans to have four stations on the air 24/7, and will have two additional stations that can be activated if needed. They will work all bands, and on CW, SSB and RTTY.

Equipment sponsors are ICOM, Alpha, Tennadyne, DX Engineering, Acer and M2.

Leaders Joe W8GEX and Craig K9CT were on the Sint Maarten for a week and have secured two operating locations on opposite ends of the island. They were very happy with all of the cooperation received from local residents.

Chtěl bych svým jménem KV manažera ČRK poděkovat všem OK radioamatérům, kteří se zúčastnili loňského CQ WW DX Contestu, za to, že svým čestným přístupem závodu a jeho soutěžním podmínkám neudělali české závodnické KV komunitě ostudu tím, že by se snížili k nepoctivostem, podvádění a obelhávání.

QRP mini-expedice na Šumavu se letos koná ve dnech 31. 7. až 7. 8. 2010. Zúčastní se řada amatérů, příznivců programu SOTA, contestu CUC a vyznavačů nekonzumního amatérského vysílání. Vyzýváme amatérskou obec, aby si poslechem a radiovým spojením ověřila, jak silné a pronikavé budou signály generované většinou "home made" QRP zařízením a anténami s vysokým vyřazovacím úhlem (viz foto níže).

Radiový maják: OL1EXP bude pracovat pravidelně denně na kmitočtu 3542 kHz od 19:00 hod. SELČ a přinese nejnovější zprávy z expedice.

Preferovaná frekvence a doba pro pravidelná spojení: CW na frekvenci 3542 kHz večer ve 20:00 hod. a ráno v 7:00 hod. SELČ, (SSB 3770 kHz).

Officially in Band-Plan for Amateur Service in Ukraine range 50 Mhz yet included never (because the transmitters of 1st televisional channel work in a number of areas).

Permissions on the use of range 50,0 MHz by the stations of Amateur service in Ukraine a public organ was seemed to on the basis of temporal position.

From 1997 to a 1st category ?RS could at pleasure get additionally to basic permission temporal permission on the use of stripe of frequencies 50,080 - 50,280 MHz by an operating term on one year. Possibility was foreseen annual registration of such temporal permission.

From 2001 in position brought in addition, concordantly to what ?RS of 1st category (in the areas of absence of the reception of the first channel of television) temporal licence given on foundation of the personal statement on the term of action of basic permission of ?RS.

In the areas of sure and uncertain reception of the first channel of television temporal licence can be given on foundation of the personal statement (as well as before) on the term one year.

And there were all ??. As for us talk: by a reliable construction temporal..

But short-sighted operators wanted to have officially in basic permission entered range 50 Mhz - a document which it is stopped appeared as a result delivery of new temporal permissions on 50 Mhz. Jaké jsou vyhlídky na trvalý příděl tohoto pásma radioamatérům ve světě? Nejspíše rozhodne konference WRC 2012. International Maritime Organization (IMO) nadále nesouhlasí s přídělem v oblasti 600 m pro radioamatéry. COMSAR, subkomise IMO, v březnu vyjádřila obavy, že sekundární příděl 415 - 526,5 kHz ve prospěch amatérské služby zvýší pravděpodobnost rušení v tomto pásmu. Nechme se tedy překvapit. Jedním ze zdrojů informací o amatérském provozu v okolí 500 kHz je WEB http://www.500kc.com/.

NC1L sděluje, že QSL od 9Q0AR a 9Q0HQ za spojení z března 2010 nejsou v současnosti uznávána pro DXCC. Stejně tak není uznáván 9Q/DK3MO. ARRL nemá od těchto stanic příslušnou dokumentaci.

NC1L, Bill Moore, ARRL's Awards Branch Manager, reports the ARRL DXCC Desk is currently not accepting QSL cards from the March 2010 operations of 9Q0AR and 9Q0HQ. Bill is waiting for paper work and until then any submissions for these two will be marked as "No Documentation Rec". 9Q0AR operations from 2001 to early 2004 are good for DXCC. Oh and for those who are wondering about 9Q/DK3MO, he still has not submitted any paper work to Newington.

Výsledky WRTC 2010 byly zveřejněny na internetu.

The final results of the 2010 WRTC were announced live on the Internet. R32F came in first place with Russian operators RW1AC, Vladimir Askenov, and RA1AIP, Alexey Mikhailov, just barely edging out the Estonian team of ES5TV, Tonno Vahk, and ES2RR, Toivo Hallikivi, who were operating R33A. The Russian team had less than .33 % more points than the team from Estonia! This year's event was the first time a North American (not an American) team did not win. Coming in third place with an amazing 3,549 QSOs (the most in the event) was R33M operated by N6MJ, Dan Craig, and KL9A, Chris Hurlbut, who did not lose one single multiplier during the log checking.

Ruská část posádky bude opět vysílat obrázky SSTV v rámci experimentu MAI-75.
Kmitočet pro příjem SSTV bude 145,800 MHz - FM.
Volací znak RS0ISS.

US Astronaut Doug Wheelock je aktivní z mezinárodní kosmické stanice ISS na kmitočtu 145,800 FM. Používá stanici kenwood TM-D700, která je součástí radioamatérského vybavení na ISS.
ISS voice downlink: 145.800 MHz,
ISS voice uplink: 144.490 MHz,
Volací znak NA1SS.

Doug zatím udělal několik spojení se stanicemi z USA a Austrálie.

Podle posledních informací schválil holandský senát nezávislost Nizozemských Antil v rámci Nizozemského království od 10.10.2010.

Dá se tedy předpokládat, že od tohoto data budou uznány 4 nové země DXCC:
Curacao (PJ2),
Bonaire (PJ4),
St. Eustatius (PJ5) a Saba (PJ6),
Sint Maarten (PJ7).

Současně zaniknou dvě země, které tyto ostrovy zahrnují.

Radio One from the Netherlands reported yesterday the Dutch Senate (Eerste Kamer der Staten-Generaal) agreed to disband the Netherland Antilles. The effective date is October 10, 2010 (10-10-10). The breakup will give the Dutch Caribbean islands of Curacao and Sint Maarten independent country status within the Kingdom of TheNetherlands, much like it did with Aruba back in 1986. The split upwill continue to keep the BES islands (Bonaire, St. Eustatius andSaba) as special municipalities (bijzondere gemeenten) of The Netherlands.

Kvůli zahájení stavebních prací v objektu radiokomunikačního střediska Černá Hora bude převaděč OK0C v příštím týdnu vypnut. Jeho opětovné uvedení do provozu se předpokládá v průběhu září 2010. Zároveň projde převaděč a anténní systém dokonalou revizí. Děkujeme za pochopení.

Dne 25. 6. 2010 jsem demontoval maják OK0EA pro pásma 5,7, 10, 24, 47 a 76 GHz. Montéři dávají na celé věži novou střechu a manipulují i s okny, takže bylo třeba prostor uvolnit. Zařízení je složeno v krabici chráněné igelitem proti případnému dešti a mechanickému poškození. Po rekonstrukci střechy bude vše namontováno zpět.

Vážení,

na základě současné situace a vašich reakcí jsme se v neděli sešli ve složení OK1RI, OK1CF a OK1DIG, abychom projednali stanovisko českého HQ týmu v IARU HF Championship.

Český HQ tým je pravidelným dlouhodobým účastníkem IARU HF Championship. V minulosti jsme byli svědky častého porušování podmínek soutěže a neetického chování některých HQ stanic. V roce 2009 byly jedním týmem tyto skutečnosti dokumentovány a předány vyhodnocovateli. Reakce vyhodnocovatele byla nedostatečná a vedla k znehodnocení výsledků snažení všech HQ týmů.

Tímto prohlašujeme, že český HQ tým ruší svou účast v IARU HF Championship v roce 2010. Jsme zároveň připraveni se podílet na přípravě nových podmínek pro HQ stanice a v budoucnosti se opět závodu zúčastňovat.

World Radiosport Team Championship 2010 Awards and Prizes for HAM Radio Community

Dear friends,

To encourage the HAM radio community worldwide to make contacts with WRTC-2010 participants during the IARU HF Championship contest the weekend of July 10-11, 2010, we would like to announce our special awards and prizes program.

WRTC-2010 awards, special plaques, T-shirts and trophies will be issued based upon the following rules:

1. QSO points
   - All WRTC stations will use distinctive callsigns from the block R30A - R39Z. The same WRTC-2010 station may be worked once on CW and once on SSB on each band (80, 40, 20, 15 and 10m). The WRTC stations will not operate on 160m.
   - Each confirmed two-way CW or SSB QSO with a WRTC-2010 station counts 1 point.
2. The logs
   The WRTC Committee needs as many IARU contest logs as possible to create the QSO data base it will use to cross check the WRTC competitors' logs. We ask all stations working the IARU contest to please send copies of their electronic, Cabrillo formatted logs to logs@wrtc2010.ru or upload them to http://www.wrtc2010.ru/upload no later than 18:00 UTC on Sunday, July 11, 2010 (Note: this is only six hours after the end of the contest). The subject field should contain your contest callsign, e.g., "Subject: RA5AA".
   The Committee guarantees that these logs will be used only to determine winners of the WRTC awards and prizes, and for cross checking the WRTC-2010 teams' logs. Please understand that sending us a copy of your log does NOT constitute a log submission for the IARU HF Championship; for that, you should also e-mail your log to "IARUHF at iaru.org".
3. Awards and Prizes

9A5K je držitelem prvé experimentální licence pro pásma 60 m a 600 m v Chorvatsku.

9A5K, Chris, is the first in Croatia to get an experimental license for the new 60M channelized band and for the 600M band too. For 60M, he is authorized for 5.260-5.410 all modes and on 600M it's 493-510 kHz, A1A mode only, the license effective immediately, for one year. He is getting on 60 immediately and 600 when his gear is ready. You can see his license at www.9a5k.com. He is using an IC756PRO III, 100 watts into an 80M delta loop.

Provoz z Finnoy Isl. tedy bude asi první aktivací tohoto ostrova (QTH loc. JO29WD).

OH2BN sděluje, že byla podepsána nová dohoda o pronájmu ruské části zóny kanálu Saimaa Finsku. Smlouva již nezahrnuje ostrov Malyj Vysotskij, který je v současnosti DXCC entitou.

A press release from Jarmo, OH2BN, dated June 5th, states: On May 27, 2010, an agreement on the lease of the Russian part of the Saimaa Canal zone to Finland was signed in Lappeenranta, Finland, by the Prime Ministers of the Republic of Finland and the Russian Federation. The new 50 year agreement supersedes the initial lease of 1963 which is due to expire in 2013. The new lease no longer includes Malyj Vysotskij Island, the present R1MV DXCC entity. The coming into effect of the agreement is subject to ratification by the parliament of Finland and the Russian duma later this year.

Celý květen byla na pásmech velmi aktivní stanice ČRK s volacím znakem OL80OK na počest osmdesátého výročí vydání prvních radioamatérských licencí v Československu. Ty byly vydány 15. května 1930 pro značky OK1AA, OK1AB, OK1AC, OK1AF a OK1AH. Aktivovat tuto příležitostnou značku umožnili OK1AD, OK1DO, OK1DRQ, OK1ES, OK1CF, OK1FMS, OK1IF, OK1PD, OK1ZHV, OK2JNM, OK2KVM, OK2RZ, OK2SG, kterým patří dík Českého radioklubu, že perfektním provozem připomenuli toto mnohdy již pozapomenuté výročí velkému množství stanic na celém světě. Bylo navázáno kolem 14.000 spojení na všech KV pásmech a částečně se značka objevila také během provozního aktivu na VKV. Poděkování patří i OK1MP za potvrzení všech spojení přes LoTW a OK1ZHV přes e-QSL. Lístky není potřeba posílat, všechna spojení budou potvrzena automaticky přes QSL službu - tisk a odeslání obstará Pavel, OK1DRQ. We apologize to the world radioamateur community - for the reasons independent of us, we are not able to carry out the expedition.

On the 25th of May at 10 p.m. local time the engine of our ship "Southern Cross" fell out, when we were in 120 nm from Kanton island. The captain Paul Green decided to turn the ship and go back to the port of Apia, Samoa under sails. Such decision was determined by the fact that the entry to the Kanton`s cove without engines would be impossible and the repair of engine in the ocean is impossible too.

The way to Apia, Samoa will take approximately 8-10 days with favorable wind under sails. The food and water must suffice. Our main task at the moment is to come back safe to Apia.

Následující návrh Pravidel chování v DX provozu vytvořil počátkem dubna 2010 předseda mezinárodního klubu prvotřídních CW operátorů - First Class CW Operators' Club (FOC) - Bob Whelan, G3PJT. Návrh postupně získává širokou mezinárodní podporu radioamatérských organizací, médií i DX operátorů.

1. Budu poslouchat, poslouchat, a ještě víc poslouchat.
2. Zavolám, až když budu DX stanici přijímat spolehlivě.
3. Nebudu spoléhat na DX Cluster a před zavoláním si značku stanice ověřím.
4. Svým signálem nebudu rušit kmitočet DX stanice ani kmitočet kohokoli jiného, nikdy nebudu ladit vysílač na kmitočtu DX stanice nebo v QSX okně.
5. Počkám, a DX stanici zavolám až po skončení jejího předchozího spojení.
6. Vždy vyšlu svou úplnou volací značku.
7. Budu střídat volání a příjem v přiměřeném intervalu. Nikdy nebudu volat nepřetržitě.
8. Nebudu volat, když DX operátor volá značku někoho jiného.
9. Nebudu volat, když se DX operátor ptá na značku někoho jiného.
10. Nebudu volat, když DX operátor volá jinou zeměpisnou oblast, než moji.
11. Až mne DX operátor zavolá, zopakuji svou značku jen když se domnívám, že ji přijal špatně.
12. Spojení navázaného slušným postupem si budu o to víc vážit.
13. Budu ohleduplný ke svým přátelům radioamatérům a chovat se tak, aby oni brali ohled na mne.

To encourage the HAM radio community worldwide to make contacts with WRTC-2010 participants during the IARU HF Championship contest the weekend of July 10-11, 2010, we would like to announce our special awards and prizes program.

WRTC-2010 awards, special plaques, T-shirts and trophies will be issued based upon the following rules:

1. QSO points
   • All WRTC stations will use distinctive callsigns from the block R30A - R39Z. The same WRTC-2010 station may be worked once on CW and once on SSB on each band (80, 40, 20, 15 and 10m). The WRTC stations will not operate on 160m.
   • Each confirmed two-way CW or SSB QSO with a WRTC-2010 station counts 1 point.
2. The logs

   The WRTC Committee needs as many IARU contest logs as possible to create the QSO data base it will use to cross check the WRTC competitors' logs. We ask all stations working the IARU contest to please send copies of their electronic, Cabrillo formatted logs to logs@wrtc2010.ru or upload them to http://www.wrtc2010.ru/upload no later than 18:00 UTC on Sunday, July 11, 2010 (Note: this is only six hours after the end of the contest). The subject field should contain your contest callsign, e.g., "Subject: RA5AA".

   The Committee guarantees that these logs will be used only to determine winners of the WRTC awards and prizes, and for cross checking the WRTC-2010 teams' logs. Please understand that sending us a copy of your log does NOT constitute a log submission for the IARU HF Championship; for that, you should also e-mail your log to "IARUHF AT iaru.org".

The Microlite Penguins DXpedition team will be activating the South Orkney Islands (DXCC VP8/O, IOTA AN-008) from January 27 to February 8, 2011. Safe and reliable Antarctic transportation has been secured by the experienced RV Braveheart, and activity will be on all HF bands 160m-10m using SSB, CW and RTTY.

Operators will be K9ZO, ND2T, 9V1YC, K0IR, N1DG, N0AX, W3WL, N6MZ, I8NHJ, N4GRN, WB9Z, W7EW and VE3EJ. This will be the team's fourth time activating an entity in the Antarctic region and fifth DXpedition overall. You may recognize most of the callsigns from the group's past operations, but we've also added several new members to the team, all of whom have been on DXpeditions to some of the world's rarest entities.

Those who have enjoyed our operations over the last 8 years may recall that our methods and philosophy are somewhat different from other DXpeditions. Though our overall goal is still to provide a new DXCC entity on as many bands and modes as possible, we also strive to increase the fun factor by focusing on operational simplicity and radio skill.

In the past we kept the Microlite Penguins DXpeditions non-commercial and confined the financial burden to ourselves and a single sponsor, the NCDXF. But today, with the astronomical cost of Antarctic travel and a budget approaching US$300,000, this single-sponsor approach is no longer a reality. To make this DXpedition happen, we must break our tradition and ask for support of the entire amateur radio community. All financial support, no matter what the amount will be welcome. Chinese Radio Sports Association (CRSA) prosí všechny radioamatéry, aby udržovali radiový klid v rozmezí kmitočtů 7050-7060 KHz, které slouží k záchranné radiokomunikaci v oblasti Yu Shu, provincie Qinghai v Číně, která byla v úterý zdevastovaná tragickým zemětřesením. Zemětřesení dosáhlo 7,1 stupňů Richterovy stupnice a zemřelo při něm několik set lidí.

Do záchranné akce se zapojilo mnoho radioamatérů, jako např. BG9UA, BG9UP a BG9UO.

Záchranný tým vedený panem Du, BG6CEV, odletěl do oblasti Qinghai 15. dubna, aby sebou přivezl veškerou potřebnou radiokomunikační techniku, kterou bude zabezpečovat záchrannou radiokomunikaci.

Every year, amateur radio operators all over the world celebrate 18 April as a holiday. This day, also known as the World Amateur Radio Day, marks the anniversary of International Amateur Radio Union formation on 18 April 1925.

A commemorative award - WARD Award - is issued every year by the Polish Radio Amateurs' Journal QTC and PZK in recognition of this event.

Rules:

1. The award is available for any 20 QSOs/HRDs on HF or any 10 QSOs/HRDs on VHF+
2. Only QSOs/HRDs made on 18 April are valid for this award.
3. Contacts with any licensed Amateur Radio operators all over the world are valid for this award.
4. Log extract and €5 or $7 (USD) is required to obtain the award.

6. The award is available in two formats:
   A - A beautiful paper award that contains the individual award holder call sign with the original seals and signatures. Držitelé třídy General Class mohou pracovat v pásmu 135.7 kHz 10 W výkonu, pásmo 160 m bylo rozšířeno do 2.000 kHz, pásmo 40 m do 7.200 kHz, a nově byla povolena pásma 30 m a 6m, přístup k pásmům od 70 cm výše byl významně rozšířen. Povolený výkon je až 1.500 W (s výjimkou 137 kHz).

Nová třída Intermediate Class dovoluje práci v pásmech 10 m a výše s výkonem 100 W.

A limited issue amateur radio operating award is available to celebrate the 100th year of the Wireless Institute of Australia (WIA), the world's oldest national radio society.

To qualify for an award certificate contact is required with the Centenary of Organised Amateur Radio in Australia special event station VK100WIA which has a distinctive QSL card.

The WIA, through its affiliated radio clubs, will operate this unique and callsign from 1 May to 31 October 2010. The callsign will also be used in Australia's capital city, Canberra, where the WIA Annual General Meeting and associated events will be held 28-30 May.

It will be on all amateur bands available to VK radio amateurs including the popular HF bands and the WIA Centenary Award is expected to be well sought after.

The award rules are: Those radio amateurs outside Australia need to achieve 50 points while VK hams require 100 points.

A contact with VK100WIA operated by the WIA or operated by a Club is worth 10 points (only one contact with VK100WIA operated by the WIA and only one contact with each Club) and there must be a minimum of 2 contacts with VK100WIA.

Contacting any WIA Member between 1st May 2010 and 31st October 2010 is worth 5 points. (Example: working VK100WIA at 10 different Clubs would be eligible for the award. Working 16 WIA members gives 80 points but then two contacts must be made with VK100WIA).

Any mode may be used; cross-mode and cross-band contacts are permitted. Satellite may be used but contacts via terrestrial repeaters are not eligible for the award. Send $AUD5 or 3 IRC and a list of contacts (QSL's not required), to the Awards Manager WIA Centenary Award, PO Box 2042, BAYSWATER VIC 3153 AUSTRALIA.

Dánští radioamatéři jsou na cestě k pokusnému vysílání v pámu 5 MHz. Český telekomunikační úřad projevil v případě pásem 70 MHz a 500 kHz ochotu zpřístupnit našim radioamatérům kmitočty mimo obvyklý příděl formou povolení k časově omezenému pokusnému provozu - viz zde, zpráva z 20. srpna 2009. Kdo první u nás ověří podanou žádostí ochotu ČTÚ postupovat stejně i u pásma 5 MHz?

The IARU Region 1 HF Interim Meeting in Vienna recently (20 - 21 Feb. 2010) discussed amateur radio in the 60 m (5 MHz) band.

As an addition to the papers VIE10_C4_12 (Status for amateur radio at 5 MHz) and VIE10_C4_13 (Worldwide 60 m frequency chart) submitted by NRRL to the meeting, I have today from OZ1FJB received new information about 60 m in Denmark, which I would like to forward to you.

There has been a meeting between the Danish IT and Telecommunications Authority and EDR (Experimental Danish Radio Amateurs). The Authority expressed willingness to issue experimental licenses on individual basis for a non-channelized frequency segment on 60 m. Before 1 Jan. 2010 the Authority had issued 8 individual experimental licenses for channelized operation in the 60 m band. Now the Authority opens for individual applications for experimental use of the spectrum 5250 - 5450 kHz. The cost per application is 300 DKK (41.25 EUR or US$ 55 with today's exchange rate).

OZ5B (who also holds the special call 5P5P) has already obtained his experimental license for VFO-use of this 60 m spectrum from 10 Feb. 2010. OZ1FJB hopes to receive a similar experimental license in about 2 weeks from now.

Industry Canada has approved access by Canadian radio amateurs to the Low Frequency (LF) band 135.7 ? 137.8 kHz, subject to certain conditions. The Revised Canadian Table of Frequency Allocations, promulgated in December 2009 to incorporate changes arising from decisions taken at World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) 2007, permits amateur use on a Secondary basis subject to Footnote 5.67A.

The Footnote states: "Stations in the amateur service using frequencies in the band 135.7-137.8 kHz shall not exceed a maximum radiated power of 1 W (EIRP) and shall not cause harmful interference to stations of the radionavigation service operating in countries listed in No. 5.67. (WRC-07)". Industry Canada has advised that Canadian radio amateurs may now use the band and that Schedule I of RBR-4 Standards for the Operation of Stations in the Amateur Radio Service will be amended in due course.

V rámci IARU R1 byl monitorován provoz na pásmu v průběhu CQ 160 m SSB Contestu, a bylo konstatováno, že řada stanic vysílala mimo povolené pásmo. K tomu byl zvřejněn i seznam stanic, zdaleka ne úplný, nebylo sledováno porušování stanoveného bandplánu, pouze stanice pracující mimo radioamatérům přidělené pásmo.

Prosím, uvědomte si, že se jedná o provoz LSB na okraji pásma - tedy, že pokud je ve vysílací cestě filtr např. 2,7 kHz a je kmitočtově umístěn např. 300 Hz až 3000 Hz, tedy pokud stanice vysílá na kmitočtu + 3 kHz od spodního okraje pásma, pak je v pásmu leda za předpokladu, že je filtr ideální, intermodulační produkty neexistují atd.

Frequency span: 70.000-70.200 MHz. Access is granted on secondary basis. Maximum bandwidth is 16 kHz and power limit is 100 W.
Licensees need to apply to the PTA for a special license. The experimental license is open to both "N" and "G" license classes.

Rules

1. The International Amateur Radio Union Region 2 IARU-R2 will grant the IARU-R2 AWARD to radio amateurs and radio listeners (SWL) who certify having contacted 20 countries or entities acknowledged in IARU Region 2, which corresponds to R2 of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU).
2. Valid contacts must be made starting April 16, 1964, date at which IARU-R2 was founded.
3. The application must be made in the form that IARU-R2 provides free of cost.
4. The application must include the details of the communications that have been established, in alphabetical order according to countries or entities, indicating that the applicant has the QSLs that confirm the contacts.
5. The application must be sent together with a certification from the IARU Member Society of the corresponding area, stating that the QSLs have been presented to them. If this is not possible, it is mandatory to send a photocopy of the original QSLs (both sides), authenticated by the applicant and an appointee of the Member Society of IARU-R2. If the applicant wishes to do so, he may send the original QSLs. In this case, authentications are not necessary.
6. IARU-R2, through its Award Manager, may request the presentation of one, several or all the QSLs together with the application.
7. Electronic QSLs and LoTW confirmations are not valid for this award.
8. The diploma has a cost of US$10.00 - or 10 IRCs for each mode.
9. R2 countries or entities are: Anguilla, Antigua y Barbuda, Argentina, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Cayman Islands, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Granada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Montserrat, Netherlands Antilles, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Puerto Rico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucie, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Turk & Caicos Islands, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela.

Dovolte mi, abych vás pozval tento víkend k účasti ve stále populárnějším KV závodu CQ WW 160 m. Protože oproti loňskému roku dochází ke změně soutěžních pravidel, chtěl bych vás v krátkosti seznámit ke kterým došlo oproti loňskému roku.

Závod se letos koná v těchto termínech:

CW: od 22:00 UTC 29. ledna do 31. ledna 2010 22:00 UTC
SSB: od 22:00 UTC 26. února do 28. února 2010 22:00 UTC

Dochází ke změnám:

1. Změna začátku a konce závodu
   Začátek a konec závodu se posouvá z dřívějších 00:00 UTC na 22:00 UTC.
2. Změna vyměňovaného soutěžního kódu stanicemi mimo stanice USA/VE
   Stanice z USA a Kanady předávají stále stejný soutěžní kód jako v minulých letech, dochází ale ke změně předávaného soutěžního kódu pro stanice ležící mimo území USA a Kanady. Tyto stanice budou nově předávat soutěžní kód tvořený z RS(T) a CQ zóny. Pro OK stanice tedy 599 15. V této souvislosti ředitel závodu Andy Blank N2NT zdůrazňuje, že CQ zóny nejsou v tomto případě násobiči, jak je tomu u klasických CQ Contestů, ale jen sjednocení předávaných kódů oproti minulosti.
3. Nová kategorie Single Operator Assisted
   Tato nová kategorie umožňuje použití nových technologií jako je CW Skimmer.
4. Časovýlimit pro stanice v kategorii M/S
   Časový limit je zaveden i pro stanice v kategorii M/S na max. 40 hodin, (u kategorie Singe Op zůstává časový limit pro provoz na 30 hodinách). Pro obě kategorie platí, že minimální doba přestávek může být 30 minut.
5. Nová pravidla pro stanice využívající dálkově ovládaná pracoviště
   Jsou nově zavedena pravidla pro stanice využívající dálkově ovládané stanice.

Nigérie oslavuje 50 let nezávislé existence. Od 1. ledna do 31. prosince 2010 budou všichni koncesovaní amatéři v Nigérii používat zvláštní prefix 5N50. Za spojení s těmito stanicemi lze získat The Nigeria @ 50 Award. Spojení s nigérijskou stanicí přináší jeden bod. Spojení s předsedou nigérijské organsace IARU, NARS, přináší 5 bodů. Stanice 5N50NIG, 5N50MRM a 5N50CAA jsou žolíky za 10 bodů. Spojení s představiteli NARS přináší 3 body; jsou to 5N50DAB, 5N50DAU, 5N50OBA, 5N50AYM, 5N50BRJ, 5N50SYT, 5N50MDS, 5N50NFE, 5N50WHA a 5N50B.

Připojená zpráva informuje o nouzové komunikaci na Haiti. Radioamatéři pak jsou žádáni, aby nepoužívali uvedené kmitočty a jejich okolí, na kterých komunikace probíhá. Do provozu se zítra zapojí i tým z Dominikánské republiky.

Rescue efforts continue to take place after the devastating 7.0 earthquake which took place in Haiti late Tuesday afternoon (local time). Yesterday there was a report that HH6JH, Father John Henault, checked into the Intercontinental Assistance and Traffic Net (IATN) on 14.300 MHz. He was working off a battery and hoped to have a generator running later in the day. There were no other reports of any other HH stations being active on the air yesterday. HH2/HB9AMO, Pierre, who is with the UN WFP, is safe but unable to be on the air at the moment. As a reminder please be aware of the emergency operations on the following frequencies: 3720, 3977, 7045, 7265 and 14265 and possibly 14300 as well. Reports indicate the telephone and Cellphone systems are down; however some in Haiti are able to communicate via access to the Internet through satellites. The Voice of America (VOA) has extended its Creole services via the RNW Bonaire relay station with expected broadcasts today and Friday on 6.135 MHz between 1230 and 1330Z.

For those interested OH6BG, Jari, has prepared some VOACAP charts for propagation purposes on 40 meters between Port au Prince, Haiti and the Americas. The maps are calculated for Haitian stations run 10 watts into a short ground plane, while the receiving stations were calculated with a 3 element yagi at 56ft. The charts can be downloaded at www.voacap.com/hh.zip.

Members of the Radio Club Dominicano (RCD) and Union Dominicana de Radio Aficionados (UDRA), from the Dominican Republic, are preparing to go to Port au Prince, Haiti early tomorrow morning. Once there the team will be installing an emergency radio communications station (HI8RCD/HH) and a mobile station. ITU joins international effort to assist Haiti
Satellite links to re-establish communications in earthquake-hit country

Geneva, 14 January 2010 - ITU joins the international effort to provide humanitarian assistance to Haiti, which was devastated by an earthquake on 12 January 2010.

Forty satellite terminals are being deployed immediately to re-establish basic communication links and a further 60 units with broadband facility are being dispatched along with experts to operate them. ITU will also set up a Qualcomm Deployable Base Station (QDBS), a reliable, responsive and complete cellular system designed to enable vital wireless communications aimed at strengthening response and recovery mechanisms in a disaster zone. ITU has allocated a budget of over USD 1 million to strengthen the disaster response effort in Haiti.

Jedním z odborníků, který se celý život věnoval studiu slunečního vnitřku pro vysvětlení počátků slunečních cyklů, je Jim Kennedy, K6MIO/KH6. Jim byl náměstkem ředitele Observatoře Gemini na Havaji a v Chile. Jako radioamatér je velmi znám svou aktivitou hlavně v pásmu 6 m a svými články o šíření v tomto pásmu. V poslední době se pak věnoval studiu a vysvětlení příčin, proč 23. sluneční cyklus byl tak dlouhý (12,6 let). V článku, který v současné době uveřejnil, uvádí, že se splnily jeho předpoklady, že začátkem roku 2010 dojde k vzestupu sluneční aktivity. V přiloženém grafu jsou porovnána vyhlazená R slunečního cyklu 23 oproti cyklu 24 pro severní a jižní hemisféru. Současné - avšak velmi přibližné - údaje naznačují, že na severní polokouli může maximum sluneční činnosti nastat v zimě 2012 - 2013. V současné době se však nedá dělat žádný úsudek o velikosti maxima.

Žádost ke všem radioamatérům: Udržujte volné kmitočty 7045 kHz a 3720 kHz pro případnou tísňovou komunikaci v souvislosti se zemětřesením na Haiti!

All radio amateurs are requested to keep 7045 kHz and 3720 kHz clear for possible emergency traffic related to today's major earthquake in Haiti.

International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Region II Area C Emergency Coordinator Arnie Coro, CO2KK, reports that as of 0245 UTC on January 13, nothing had been heard from radio amateurs in Haiti, but that the above frequencies were being kept active in case any Haitian hams manage to get on the air, and in case of other related events in surrounding areas, including aftershocks and a possible tsunami.

The following is from an e-mail from CO2KK:

A few minutes after the earthquake was felt in eastern Cuba's cities, the Cuban Federation of Radio Amateurs Emergency Net was activated, with net control stations CO8WM and CO8RP located in the city of Santiago de Cuba, and in permanent contact with the National Seismology Center of Cuba located in that city.

Stations in the city of Baracoa, in Guantanamo province, were also activated immediately as the earth movements were felt even stronger there, due to its proximity to Haiti. CO8AZ and CO8AW went on the air immediately , with CM8WAL following. At the early phase of the emergency, the population of the city of Baracoa was evacuated far away from the coast, as there was a primary alert of a possible tsunami event or of a heavy wave trains sequence impacting the coast line at the city's sea wall ...

Baracoa could not contact Santiago de Cuba stations on 40 meters due to long skip after 5 PM local time, so several stations in western Cuba and one in the US State of Florida provided relays. CO2KK, as IARU Region II Area C Emergency Coordinator, helped to organize the nets , on 7045 kHz and also on 3720 kHz, while local nets in Santiago de Cuba and Baracoa operated on 2 meters.

As late as 9,45 PM local time 0245 UTC we have not been able to contact any amateur or emergency services stations in Haiti.

Amateurs from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Venezuela were monitoring the 40 meter band frequency, that I notified to the IARU Region II executive Ramon Santoyo XE1KK as in use for the emergency, requesting that 7045 kHz be kept as clear as possible ...

We are still keeping watch on 7045 kHz hoping that someone in Haiti may have access to a transceiver and at least a car battery to run it.

All information that has so far come from the Cuban seismologists tell us of a very intense earthquake, and also of the possibility of other events following.

Following the advice of the geophysicists, we are keeping the 7045 and 3720 kiloHertz frequencies active until further notice.

Na památku této události bude vysílat příležitostná stanice PC600P v období 1. - 27. ledna, 1. - 28. května a 1. - 28. září 2010. V této době bude možné splnit podmínky diplomu vydávaného k výročí města Purmerend. Body do diplomu můžete získat také od jihlavských radioamatérů.

Pravidla pro získání diplomu:

Holandské stanice potřebují 600 bodů, evropské stanice 450 bodů, DX stanice 300 bodů.

Stanice PC600P - 100 bodů - pro získání diplomu musíte navázat spojení s touto stanicí!
další holandské stanice s "600" v prefixu - 50 bodů,
stanice z Jihlavy - partnerského města Purmerendu - 50 bodů,
holandské stanice z regionu Waterland - 25 bodů.

Spojení je možné navazovat na jakémkoli radioamatérském pásmu, libovolným druhem provozu, avšak body za spojení s jednou stanicí, více pásmech/módech, se započítávají pouze jednou.

Diplom mohou získat také posluchači, avšak neplatí spojení opsaná z DX-clusteru.

Žádosti o diplom spolu se seznamem spojení a s poplatkem ve výši € 2, - $ 3, - nebo 2 nové IRC, se posílají do 31. ledna 2011. Adresa manažera bude zveřejněna v brzké době.
