Mr. Jim D. Haynie, W5JBP,
The American Radio Relay League

Prague, 20th September 2001

Dear Sir,

Along with the entire civilized world, radio amateurs in the Czech Republic have been struck by a sense of horror at the terrorist attacks aimed at your country, and feel deep pain at the countless number of victims involved in this tragedy.

It is with great pride that we have been following the American radio amateurs as they self-sacrificingly give practical assistance in rescue operations, as befits the best traditions of the Ham Spirit.

Mr.President, please be assured in these difficult moments that Czech radio amateurs stand, in spirit at least, alongside all of their American colleagues who have assisted in the rescue of human lives and in dealing with the aftermath of this barbaric crime, and it is with a sense of human solidarity that they deeply sympathize with those who have lost their loved ones.

Respectfully yours,

Milos P r o s t e c k y, OK1MP,
President of the Czech Radio Club

On behalf of the United States Amateur Community, the ARRL membership, ARRL Leadership, our staff, and Americans everywhere, thank you for your kind condolences at this time of American tragedy. It is indeed a test of our perseverance and courage. We appreciate your testament of cooperation in our time of sorrow.

Acts of such horrific violence touches not only American soil but reaches to all the corners of the world. The Amateur community bonding together has never been so important as it is today. The leadership of the ARRL and the American Amateur Community vows to work together with our Amateur friends to do what we can to facilitate world peace.

Again, thank you for your words of encouragement and by accepting our pledge of cooperation to stop this sort of tragedy from ever happening again on peaceful soil.

Jim Haynie, W5JBP
